Years of spreading success

Roesner’s modern two-hectare site at Harvey

One of rural WA's stalwart farming supply businesses turns 110 this year.

Roesner started out life in Harvey in 1900.

The business, founded by Arthur E Roesner, initially made its way as a blacksmith operation, repairing stage coaches as well as farm machinery.

Today, the company is going from strength to strength using the latest metal working technology, applying computer-aided design with laser cutting and CNC steel pressing, cutting-edge grit blasting and painting techniques.

Roesner still calls Harvey home and its modern two-hectare site is run by third and fourth generation family members and employs 25 passionate and dedicated staff.

For several decades Roesner has turned out its popular and reliable Marshall Spreaders, with more than 11,000 sold and still counting.

Current production includes between 200-300 units a year, which makes Roesner the biggest all-purpose spreader manufacturer in the country.

The Multispread range is available from 2.5-16-tonne capacity, which includes trailer and truck-mounted models.

The machines work in a range farming enterprises - from market gardens and vineyards to broadacre wheat and sheep operations.

The Multispread will spread a diverse range of materials, including granulated fertilisers, lime, gypsum, dolomite, manures, sawdust, sand and seeds such as wheat, barley, lupin and clover.

The ground drive feed system allows the operating speed to be varied to suit paddock conditions without altering fertiliser application rates.

The rate of application can be adjusted by the hopper feed door and quick-change, multi-ratio feed belt drive.

Heavy duty spinners, with replaceable vanes and 6mm thick discs, are designed to handle materials that can be difficult to spread.

Spread widths vary from 6-15m for non-granulated material, such as lime and gypsum, to 30m for granulated products, such as superphosphate and urea.
