Lee loves WA’s big open spaces
Lee Kernaghan, Kasey Chambers, Beccy Cole and John Williamson will share the stage at this year's Perth City Muster. "What really stood out to me in 2008 when travelling around drought-affected areas was how important family is and how they can get you through the most difficult times." Lee said. "This year's muster is going to provide the perfect venue for the country crowd to have the party of all parties." "I just love the big open spaces in WA. The people, the utes, the four-wheel-drives, it's a great state." Lee said leaving the family behind was one of the biggest sacrifices of touring. "My greatest wish is for rain and sunshine when we need it, and my greatest hope is that our future leaders will place a greater emphasis on the importance of Australian primary producers and our rural and regional communities and the contribution they make to Australia." Lee said being awarded Australian of the Year in 2008 was overwhelming. "There are many more deserving people than me but it was a year of my life I'll never forget," he said. "It sure feels good to get back in the saddle, with a guitar strapped around my neck walking out in front of a crowd and doing what I love to do." •Congratulations to Sandy Smith, of Carnamah, Edward Kendle, of Scarborough, Judy Hempsell, from Popanyinning, Caroline Doyle, of Katanning, Sarah Pfeiffer, of Warnbro, Stacey McFarlane, from Como, and Shelley Thomson, also from Como, Alice Felber, of South Perth, Bronwyn Hill, of Baskerville, and Geoff Bell, from Ocean Reef. All have won a double pass to the Perth City Muster 2010. Thankyou to everyone who entered. |
