Resources Technology Showcase 2021: FMG to give event goers hands on autonomous truck experience
Punters can get a hands-on experience controlling a fleet of autonomous haul trucks — as if you were really working on a min site — at this year’s Resources Technology showcase.
Fortescue Metals Group will be at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre today and tomorrow (June 21 and 22) to provide visitors with technical insights into autonomous technology and a chance to enter one of their MineStar training booths.

As well as having a go controlling the autonomous haul trucks, you can also check out Fortescue team members operating a dozer at their Pilbara mine site from a non-light-of-sight remote dozing station here in Perth.
And if that wasn’t enough high-tech fun for you, there will also be an autonomous robot demonstration allowing you to learn about how the robot uses LiDAR technology to navigate obstacles and a chance to discover how Fortescue Future Industries is aiming to decarbonise the firm’s mining operations and drive the global clean energy transition with green hydrogen.
Fortescue chief executive Elizabeth Gaines said WA’s mining sector was the most innovative in the world and they were pleased to be part of the 2021 Resources Technology Showcase to demonstrate to students and members of the public the cutting edge technology that is being utilised across their operations.

The Resources Technology Showcase is free, and is open on June 21 and 22 from 9am – 4.30pm at PCEC.
