Scholarship honoured

Bunbury medical student Jessica Ibbeson has justified her rural medical scholarship from the Country Women’s Association of WA by being awarded a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with honours from the University of WA.

The scholarship provided her with a grant of $10,000 a year for the duration of her six-year course.

The scholarship is designed to encourage young people from rural backgrounds to consider a career in medicine.

Successful recipients must also show a willingness to work in regional areas and to promote the provision of high-quality medical services to rural communities.

Ms Ibbeson wishes to specialise in obstetrics and gynaecology.
