The sheep market saw more pressure last week, with mutton prices easing further and local feedlot demand for lambs pushing back. Feedlots are not in any immediate need of lambs in WA, yet there are still plenty to be moved off farms. There is some support coming from South Australian feedlots at $2.50 on farm for XB lambs. Direct consignment sheep and lamb prices (hot standard carcase weight) from the Agora Livestock Markets app: For goats, WA prices remain at $2.80/kg HSCW. East coast demand has pushed even lower and depot bids are now below $1/kg liveweight — down from above $4/kg a year ago. Direct consignment goat prices: While cattle prices have been under pressure, there is still booking space available at feedlots, giving sellers some ability to move stock. For sellers looking for immediate space, feedlot prices for local steers are around $4 and heifers are at a 30¢ discount. Pastoral steers are around $3.70 and heifers a 60¢ discount to that. While they are not the numbers sellers we were seeing six months ago, these direct prices still represent a premium to what we are currently seeing in saleyards. Direct consignment live export cattle prices: All prices quoted are available in the Agora Livestock Markets app, available free on the app stores.
