WA sheep markets are still facing a tough time for moving mutton or lambs at the moment with processors getting more than what they need from existing bookings and saleyards to top up. However, the outlook does look to be showing a shortage of trade weight lambs. In addition to this, traders that are fortunate enough to have stubble available are showing interest in heavy mutton with more than six months wool on them. Store lambs over 40kg are now bid $1.20/kg or better but little seems to trading at these numbers (due to a lack of lambs meeting that weight). Low rainfall, heavy mutton, with wool is trading at around $40/head. Bare shorn heavy mutton is below $30/head. On the east coast, the store lamb price is sitting around $1.60/kg liveweight and has shown some signs of support or even strength. Mutton remains on par with WA. Direct consignment sheep & lamb prices (HSCW) (from the Agora Livestock Markets app) ● XB trade lambs: WA direct: $4.60 (very limited volumes), saleyards: $3.00/kg, east coast $4.70 (down $0.10) ● Merino trade lambs: WA direct: $4.40 (trade weights only), saleyards: $3.00/kg (unchanged), east coast $4.40 (unchanged) ● Mutton: WA $1.80 (down $0.10), east coast $1.80/kg (unchanged) Goat prices are unchanged this week with the depot market currently at $1.00/kg liveweight.
