WA grain industry takes centre stage in new CBH Group-Scitech exhibit hoped to showcase ‘vital’ sector

WA’s grain industry has been brought into the heart of Perth with a new immersive exhibition at Scitech aimed at showcasing the vital role and innovation behind the State’s grain growing sector. CBH Group partnered with Scitech to launch the CBH Global Food Solutions exhibit, which highlights the significance of WA’s grain growers and the cutting-edge science and technology that supports them in feeding communities locally and worldwide. Located within Scitech’s newly transformed Here, There And Everywhere gallery — the largest in 37 years — the exhibit features a visually striking mural tracing the journey of grain from WA farms to international markets including Japan, Indonesia and Europe. The permanent exhibit highlights how WA grain growers use innovative farming practices and advanced technology to tackle challenges and contribute to global food security. With about 300,000 people visiting Scitech last year, the exhibit provides an opportunity for city audiences to connect with the State’s grain growing regions and discover how technology, science and innovation are shaping the future of agriculture. CBH chief stakeholder relations, sustainability and strategy officer David Paton said the exhibit provided the perfect opportunity to connect more people with WA’s grain industry and the people and technology behind it. It comes at a time when WA farmers are in the spotlight as they start harvesting what could be a record or near-record crop. “Grain growing is at the heart of regional WA, yet it often goes unnoticed,” Mr Paton said. “This exhibit showcases the innovation, scale and global impact of our grain industry, while celebrating the crucial role of the people and technology that drive it. “WA growers are the world leaders in grain production and the WA grain industry itself is dynamic, high-tech, and globally connected. “Through this collaboration, CBH aims to deepen community understanding of the vital role WA growers play in feeding the world and to foster a greater appreciation for the grain industry more broadly.” Scitech chief executive John Chappell said the Here, There And Everywhere exhibition was Scitech’s largest gallery transformation in 37 years, featuring 17 new exhibits. “Thanks to the support of CBH Group, visitors to Scitech can discover how WA farmers are using science and technology to produce food that is eaten here and overseas, contributing to a stable food future,” Dr Chappell said. “We’re excited to showcase WA science stories like food production, helping to spark curiosity, inspire engagement with science and highlight the endless possibilities of science and technology.” The CBH Global Food Solutions exhibit is now open to the public at Scitech.
