Shane in the run for charity
The expression "a long day on the road" is about to take on a whole new meaning for Shane Sander.
The Perth-based agricultural consultant, whose clients are dotted throughout the eastern Wheatbelt, is used to covering hundreds of kilometres a week - just not on foot.
Mr Sander is one of the Mates 500 Relay's newest recruits set to cover a mind-boggling 1500km, taking off from Mukinbudin on March 24 and crossing the finish line in Manjimup 11 days later.
This is the third relay for these fit blokes, who since 2011 have raised $120,000 for the Regional Men's Health Initiative and the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.
The team is now on the look-out for locals who can help with organising functions, drivers for vehicles, food preparation and accommodation in and around Mukinbudin, Dalwallinu, Wongan Hills, Merredin and Gnowangerup.
