Beyond the Saleyards: WA lamb demand creeping back

It appears as though we may have found some small amounts of demand for WA lambs at $5.50/kg HSCW over the past week. Buyers are continuing to pay in the $6.00 region for those who have had bookings months in advance but for spot bookings the price is about $0.50 lower. While not a great price — it is better than no price as has been the case for the past few months. WA mutton remains the main interest for buyers though with prices firm at $3.10/kg HSCW and booking space readily available with multiple processors. East coast the market remains relatively flat from last week. Direct consignment sheep and lamb prices (HSCW) (from the Agora Livestock Markets app) ● XB trade lambs: WA direct: $5.40 (prev no bid), saleyards: $4.90/kg (unchanged), east coast $5.60 (unchanged) ● Merino trade lambs: WA direct: $5.20 (prev no bid), saleyards: $4.40/kg (unchanged), east coast $4.80 (unchanged) ● Mutton: WA $3.10 (unchanged), east coast $3.40/kg (unchanged) Goat markets have been flat again for the last week, like the week before that, and the week before that. Direct consignment goat prices (from the Agora Livestock Markets app) ● Liveweight: east coast $1.20/kg (unchanged) ● HSCW: WA $2.80 (unchanged), east coast $3.50 (unchanged) Cattle markets moved lower this week. There is demand from feeders but the prices are easing. The live export market also remains flat but somehow feels like there is more downward pressure on the market than support.
