Coonamble Angus bull sells for new WA all-breeds record top-price of $106,000

The Davis family of Coonamble Angus stud continued their success in the sale ring when Coonamble Show Time S42, sold for a new WA record top-price of $106,000 at their Annual On-property Angus Bull Sale in Bremer Bay on February 28. The 920kg rising two-year-old bull, sired by US sire Frontman 3132, was bought by a syndicate of four WA buyers including Kojonup-based Tonebridge Grazing, Donnybrook-based Cherylton Angus, Boyanup-based Black Market Angus stud and Allanooka-based Kupsch Farming in a undisclosed partnership agreement. The sale of Show Time S42 smashes Coonamble’s previous top-price of $72,000 set last year and also sets a new beef bull all-breeds record — also set last year when a Bandeeka Simmental bull sold for $82,000. Tne Coonamble sale also set a new all-time record average price of $18,262/head when Nutrien Livestock offered and sold 126 bulls — a 100 per cent clearance supported by 89 registered buyers plus several online bidders through AuctionsPlus. Coonamble co-principal and stud founder Murray Davis, who was the ring master during the auction, was celebrating 56 years of stud registration on his 71st birthday. Feeling a bit shocked with the result, Mr Davis was overwhelmed with the record result. “It was a real team effort, with my son Craig at the helm as studmaster now,” he said. Nutrien Livestock auctioneer Tiny Holly said the sale was absolutely magnificent. “Its a real credit to the Davis family — the bulls presented at 110 per cent and bidding registration numbers showed how keen buyers were,” he said. “It was the best sale I have ever been a part of.” The complete sale report to be published in Countryman’s March 9 edition.
