Gingin Bull Sale to offer 85 of the best northern-bred bulls

The 35th Annual Gingin Bull Sale set for March 9 promises to be quality-packed with 85 bulls in the line-up from some of the State’s best northern studs. Carrying on its rich history, the Midlands Cattle Breeders’ Association 2023 multibreed sale will follow two previous unprecedented sales with average prices reaching $9697 for 79 bulls sold last year and the all-time record average price of $11,213/head achieved in 2021 when 68 bulls sold. The continues to grow in numbers and this year the catalogue includes 62 Angus bulls from three studs, 12 Murray Grey bulls from one stud vendor and 11 Limousin bulls from two studs. Leading off the sale, the Sudlow family, of Kapari Angus stud in Northampton, will offer 33 bulls. Their line-up includes sons of Millah Murrah Paratrooper P15, MM Nectar, S Powerpoint, S Chissum S55, Baldridge Beast Mode and Musgrave Stunner. A homebred sire, Kapari Bronc P46, will also be represented in the sale. Kapari stud co-principal Tony Sudlow said Bronc sons were offered for the first time in last year’s sale. “They were in high demand and sold for the equal top-price of the sale,” he said. Second in catalogue order, the Kupsch family, of Black Tara Angus stud in Allanooka, will offer 17 bulls. Their line-up includes 10 sons of Millah Murrah Kloony N310, one son of QHF WWA Black Onyx 5Q11, two sons of EF Complement 8088, three sons of HF Tiger 5T, one son of SAV Thunderbird 9061 and one son of Black Tara Chisum S201. Black Tara stud co-principal Brad Kupsch said after they purchased MM Kloony N310 at the 2018 Millah Murrah sale, there was excitement when his sons began to trickle through to the bull sale team. “Kloony N310 is a son of the proven sire MM Kloony K42, who’s consistent, balanced and deep progeny have left their mark Australia-wide,” he said. “However, they’re not to be overlooked by the quality of lot 36, Black Tara Spinifex S19 — by QHF WWA Black Onyx.” David and Kim Topham, of Coomberdale, will offer 10 of their well-bred Cookalabi Angus bulls at Gingin. Their line-up includes six sons of Cookalabi P59, two sons of Blackrock L50, two sons of Blackrock P85 and two sons of Blackrock N34. Stud co-principal David Topham said the Cookalabi sale bulls had presented very well as an even line-up with good temperaments and sound structure. Celebrating 50 years of Murray Grey stud registration, the Stickland family, of Mungatta stud, will be offering 12 bulls at Gingin. Their line-up includes seven sons of Monterey Magnetic M39, one son of Melaleuca Napoleon N96, two sons of Stockhill Lancelot and two sons of Mighty Leroy. From the Limousin catalogue, the Kupsch family, of Allanooka, will offer eight exceptionay evenl bulls. Tara co-principal Brad Kupsch said the sale bulls would bring a power of growth to any cattle operation. “We will offer a LimFlex bull, one of the few to ever be offered at auction within WA,” he said. “He is a 50/50 Limousin cross Angus composite registered with the Limousin society.” The Stickland family’s Woronyne Limousin stud will offer three bulls with two sired by Woronyne Nemo 17 and one sired by W Pedro P12.
