Livestock, produce go in clearing sale

Hundreds of registered buyers turned out to the MK Sounness and Son’s clearing sale in Mt Barker earlier this month.

Countryman was on hand to watch dozens of items go under the hammer, with Landmark auctioneers kept busy handling a sale list consisting of a range of livestock, machinery, plant, sundries and produce.

In the machinery section of the auction, a John Deere 6520 and Case Maxxum 125 attracted plenty of interest, as did various planters including three 25-tonne field bins and a Farm King augur.

Also on offer was a Hardi Explorer 2718 boomspray, a Marshall Multi-spreader 840T and Hustler bale feeder SL700X.

Quick off the auction block were several offerings of new-season oaten pasture hay, with 250 bales in total registered for sale.

While a range of November-shorn ewes were on Tuesday’s auction bill, the Sounness family recently sold the last of their in-calf Angus heifers at the Great Southern Blue Ribbon Female Sale in Mt Barker.

The family also recently finalised the sale of mixed-farming property, 10 minutes west of Mt Barker on Quangellup Road, with Kendenup farmers Peter and Pauline Bunker set to take over the land.
