Firefighters battle Bridgetown blaze

Firefighters are continuing to battle a blaze near Bridgetown.

The bushfire was first reported about 4.30 yesterday about 7km east of Bridgetown.

A Department of Fire and Emergency Services spokesperson said that at 6.40am the fire was contained but not controlled.

Volunteer and career firefighters are working with Department of Parks and Wildlife Officers to strengthen containment lines and helitacs are on standby.

About 35 personnel were on scene this morning. The fire is burning about 2km away from rural housing.

The cause of the fire is unknown.

A bushfire watch and act is current for Bridgetown Estate and Bridgetown Garden Estate in Bridgetown - Greenbushes Shire.
