Karlie Mucjanko appointed InterGrain chair while Tracy Lefroy and Bob Mullins join the plant breeder’s board

InterGrain is ushering in a new era with long-term board member Karlie Mucjanko appointed chair of the plant breeding company, while two new directors — Tracy Lefroy and Bob Mullins — have also joined the fold. Ms Mucjanko succeeds Ian Brown, who has been on the InterGrain board since 2014 and served as chair for the past six years. She joined the InterGrain board in 2019, after years of serving on other agricultural boards, and has 20 years’ experience spanning industry advocacy, marketing and public relations, publishing and research and development. As CBH Group general manager grower from 2005, Ms Mucjanko spent almost a decade in external relations working directly with grain growing producers, their rural communities and CBH’s many other stakeholders. Ms Mucjanko said she was excited to step into the role and to continue to build on InterGrain’s success in the grains industry. “InterGrain owes a great debt of gratitude to Ian for his years of service as chair,” she said. “He has been instrumental in driving the company’s growth and success. “It is an exciting time for InterGrain’s new directors to be part of the dynamic direction the company is moving in. “There are promising opportunities for expansion and innovation.” Ms Lefroy and Mr Mullins join existing InterGrain directors Chris Bazley, Julie Cox and Ms Mucjanko. A Moora farmer, Ms Lefroy said she understood the importance of competitive crop varieties. She said she hoped to help shape the direction and strategy of InterGrain to continue to deliver grower value.. Mr Mullins is a seasoned agribusiness executive with extensive experience in agriculture and the plant science industry. He brings a wealth of international scientific knowledge and commercial expertise to the board. Mr Mulins said InterGrain was a world-class plant breeding company, adopting new breeding technologies. InterGrain was founded as a partnership between the State Government and Grains Research Development Corporation in 2007, and now operates several wheat and barley breeding programs at its breeding facilities in WA, South Australia and Victoria. The company employs more than 60 staff with offices in Perth and Horsham, as well as marketing staff baased in Northam, Adelaide, Dalby and Wagga Wagga.
