Positive vibes at Mingenew

The new Business and Technology Hub was just one of the attractions at last week's Mingenew Lions Midwest Expo.

Mingenew expo secretary Kym McGlinn said the event had been well attended by farmers from the district.

"The first day was a bit light on for numbers but the last day filled up nicely with all the school kids coming along to enjoy the wonderful weather," she said.

"Most of the exhibitors reported to us they were extra busy attending to enquires on Friday."

Expo chairwoman Helen Newton said the mood of exhibitors and visitors across both days had been positive.

"Obviously everyone would have liked to see a bit more traffic on the first day, but overall everyone has found it good," she said.

With this year being the first expo for the new board of management, Ms Newton and the team of board members have been exploring ways to freshen up the event.

Ms Newton said one proposal was the possibility of changing the time of year the expo was held.

"We need to do a feasibility study if we were to change the timing of Mingenew expo to make sure that it worked in with other events and stakeholders," she said.

"We are also looking into ways to increase the drawcards to bring people through the gate.

"One of the ideas we are currently looking at is to invite guest speakers to the event from the Mingenew Irwin Group."
