The search is on for the WA nominee to vie for a national award acknowledging the critical role women play in rural Australia.

Regional women spearheading or involved in ground-breaking projects benefiting their community or industry are being urged to nominate for the 2020 WA AgriFutures Rural Women’s Award.

The winner will be awarded $10,000 to progress their project, receive access to professional development and networking opportunities and also represent WA at the national final.

Esperance mixed-enterprise farmer Belinda Lay claimed this year’s WA title for her trailblazing project using specially designed collars to monitor sheep health.

“I encourage all of our rural and regional women across the State to use Belinda as an inspiration and nominate for the 2020 award,” WA Agriculture Minister Alannah MacTiernan said.

“We look forward to seeing more examples of the innovative work being done by rural and regional women across the State.”

Nominations for the 2020 award close on October 31, 2019.
