Luke Harding was crowned champion of this year’s Pingelly Shears last Saturday.

With 75.700 points, Harding placed first in front of Callum O’Brien (76.750) who is currently in New Zealand representing Australia at the Golden Shears.

Finishing in third place was Damien Boyle with 78.350 points.

Pingelly local Kim Turvey took out the Senior Championship, while Williams’ Dwayne Humes topped the Intermediate division.

Liam Higgins won the under-21 division.

Organiser Rheannon Turton said there was quality competition found in Pingelly on Saturday.

“Saturday was really good, we had 36 shearers all up, numbers were up from last year,” she said.

“The open final was probably one of the best seen by everyone in a long time, one of the judges actually commented on how good it was.

“They were probably five of top six shearers in the circuit at the moment (competing in the open final).”
