Tahnee Sims has stayed by her boyfriend Johnny Ruffo’s side through thick and thin and now she has shared a heartfelt post for the first time since the devastating news that his brain cancer has returned.

The 27-year-old posted a black-and-white collage of pictures on Instagram in tribute to Ruffo and described him as a “superstar”.

The pair have been dating since 2015.

Last week the former Home and Away actor announced on social media that his battle with brain cancer wasn’t over.

It came three years after the 32-year-old underwent lifesaving surgery to remove a 7cm tumour.

Balcatta-born Ruffo had been given the all-clear but his latest diagnosis means he now faces more gruelling treatment.

“After an unexpected week of seizures and excruciating headaches it is with a heavy heart that I have to let you know I now have another huge battle ahead of me as my brain cancer has returned, though I will dig deep and beat this s... disease again,” Ruffo wrote.

There was an outpouring of love and support from fans and celebrities including Dan Ewing, Georgie Parker and Carrie Bickmore following the announcement.

Former X-Factor judge Guy Sebastian wrote: “Unbelievably unfair my brother. You are such a light to us all. Your positivity and courage is seriously inspiring. Love ya.”

In 2017, Ruffo took himself to the emergency department after he began suffering from debilitating headaches. Soon after he went into a coma and required immediate surgery and radiotherapy.

It was Sims who reportedly had to give doctors permission to go ahead with the surgery because Ruffo’s family were not there.

He was give a one in 20 chance of survival.

Ruffo got his big break on the X-Factor in 2011 before a regular role on Home and Away for three years and a win on the twelfth season of Dancing with the Stars.
