IT’S one of the most popular board games of all time - and one with the ability to tear families and friendships apart.

Now a brand new version of Monopoly, one that rewards the more cunning among us, has been released.

With a recent survey revealing more than 50 per cent of players skip spaces, steal from the bank or dodge their rent, Monopoly Cheaters Edition aims to level the playing field.

The fresh take adds a new layer to the play with the “banker” role removed from the game. Instead each player takes control of the bank on their turn.

It’s at these times when it’s easier than ever to pinch some extra cash.

While players will be rewarded for completing the in-game “cheats”, they must be sly.

If caught, offenders will face the music including a pretend handcuff that will “chain” culprits to the game board.

“With regular reports of space skipping or rent dodging, we know Monopoly games can get pretty heated,” Hasbro Gaming spokesman Jonathan Berkowitz said.

“With the Cheaters Edition, we’re mixing things up by levelling the playing field for fans everywhere.”

The game is available in stores but you can also check it out online.
