I’m going to get straight to the date because already so much of my life is taken up with other people’s dating woes. Literally, I run a dating column.

So I never really knew that Tori — the most wonderful doctor in the world that just so happens to work in Summer Bay — was so dorky until now.

As a big dork myself I find it quite sweet and so does budget McDreamy despite the awkward spilling water situation.

Ryder (of course) is their waiter so he probably takes notes and will add this to his compendium of dating advice to dish out at a moment’s notice even though he has very little personal experience.

As the date continues, they go to progressively darker locations to the point where I can’t see anything on my screen because I’m watching this in broad daylight.

It doesn’t really matter because Christian is doing most of the talking with that incredibly husky, deep voice, so it’s easy to follow.

We find out that he was married and his ex was also a doctor — so it’s basically Grey’s Anatomy now.

Tori responds by waxing lyrical about how amazing baby Grace is and Christian isn’t deterred.

Budget McDreamy walks Tori home like a gentleman and she lingers at the front door waiting for that all important goodnight kiss to seal the deal.

But there is no kiss, no text and no follow up date.

Tori gets increasingly more manic — but not the Jasmine kind, that’s coming up — because she can “feel the icy winds of the friend zone approaching” and I’d like to take a moment to commend the scriptwriters for coming up with this one.

She wastes no time sorting it out and runs after budget McDreamy.

“Why didn’t you kiss me?”

Christian responds with something about discretion in public places, which catches me off-guard given the past week was filled with Taylor and Colby’s affair that so many people know about it couldn’t be further from discretionary.

Tori gets home to find Christian consulting with Leah and Justin. He decides to get radiotherapy to treat his tumour.

Then Christian whisks Tori away for a lunch time date with baby Gracie.

He’s clearly a natural with children and they have a moment together playing house with Gracie.

Jasmine is watching from a nearby vantage point and the jealousy on her face is brilliant.

I’m hoping we’re headed for another bout of Crazy Jas as she sits at the diner and stares at her engagement ring.

But she’s actually fine, just not comfortable with someone playing dad to dead Robbo’s daughter.

Back to the lunch date and according to Christian a perfect date doesn’t have to end with a kiss.

So he wraps up their kiss-less date by suggesting an adult sleepover when he returns from visiting patients out of town.

It’s hard to tell what Tori is thinking, not because of the dark but because of her ambiguous facial expression. But considering she hasn’t dated in a while, it’s probably pure terror.

Next up is Tane who cops a good yelling after keeping a stolen van filled with stolen goods in the garage.

Like mate, what are you thinking?

He just got bequeathed a pretty good job with a pretty chill boss and he’s already pushing the boundaries and breaking the law and he hasn’t even been there for a week.

It goes on for a while Tane tries to get the crims to pick up the van but as if they’re going to do that — they’ve just offloaded a stolen van.

Justin swings by for a private chat. Ziggy has a moment of panic because she thinks Justin knows about the van incident, but it’s about his tumour.

Poor Justin is already talking like it’s the end.

“Times like this you find out who your mates are,” Justin says

Which means Tane is going to be around and I can just feel the beginnings of a new relationship in the works. Plus Ziggy really hasn’t taken the breakup with Dean her “one true love” very hard even though she has a constant reminder in the way of a shocking tattoo.
