They both left their very famous exes in the past couple of years, and now rumours have emerged singing sensations Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban might be more than just old friends.
J-Lo, 57, split from Ben Affleck in 2024, while Nicole Kidman famously filed for divorce from the 58-year-old country star almost a year ago, citing “irreconcilable differences”.
A source told Women’s Day that Urban may have wished the demise of his 19-year marriage to Kidman had ended differently.
“Keith’s gone through his mourning phase and is moving on from his regrets at walking out on his marriage. It’s becoming clear he half hoped Nicole would beg him to come home – instead she called a divorce attorney,” the insider said.
“But it wasn’t until he saw those pictures of her in Italy (cosying up to rumoured flame Michael Reinstein) that he finally accepted there was no going back. He poured it out on stage (Aug 21) in Atlantic City and now he’s ready to move on.”
Now, Urban’s friends are reportedly encouraging him to canoodle with Jenny from the Block, who had apparently been in constant contact since his very public split.
The friendly pair reportedly laughed off suggestions they were “exploring a relationship in private”.
Lopez re-kindled her romance with Affleck in recent years after the pair’s initial relationship 20 years ago, though split once again two years ago.
The source said the two singers displayed chemistry long before Urban’s marriage broke down.
“His (Urban’s) friends have been urging him to take Jen out on a date. They’ve never been out of contact at all since working together and she’s been checking in on him since the divorce,” the insider continued.
“Keith has always adored Jen – loved working with her, loves her talent and thinks she’s ridiculously gorgeous. She was the only one who got Nicole’s hackles up because their chemistry was off the charts.”
Kidman is said to have been a fan of J-Lo’s music, though perhaps unsettled by the closeness of their friendship that was sparked on the talent show as early as 2014.
Urban has reportedly always had a “soft spot” for the talented American.
Previous to her shortlived marriage to Affleck, J-Lo was married to singer Marc Anthony for 10 years, as well as dancer Cris Judd, and Cuban waiter Ojani Noa — both for no longer than two years.
“Keith knows Jen’s going through her own post-divorce blues so they have a lot in common. The good thing is they’ve been friends and colleagues first so they trust each other. Neither of them feel ready to dive into another romance, but testing the waters with someone they trust could work,” the insider said.
“He’s always had a soft spot for Jen, and at the very least it would be a ton of fun to wine and dine someone even more famous than his ex – and if it annoys Nicole in the process, so be it!”
