‘Oh honey’: Why radio host Jackie O’s NY post has stirred controversy
Radio personality Jackie ‘O’ Henderson has sparked outrage after she appeared in an Instagram post posing outside Trump Tower in New York.
Newsreader Brooklyn Ross shared the photo of himself with Henderson outside the former US president’s gilt tower in an Instagram post on Tuesday.
The 49-year-old radio host had her left arm resting on Mr Ross’s shoulder outside the Midtown Manhattan building, with the photo captioned “fair and balanced”.
The Kyle and Jackie O Show host replied to the photo shortly after, writing: “Jesus, I didn’t think you were going to post it. Kyle will love this LOL.”
While some fans were amused by the post, others were quick to condemn it, with one user writing “Oh honey, no” and another stating “why?”.
The post also attracted attention from commenters seemingly showing support for the 2024 US presidential hopeful and convicted felon.
Users made repeated references to “Trump 2024” and to MAGA, Donald Trump’s infamous Make America Great Again slogan.
“You having cats or dogs for breakfast?” said one user, referencing recent baseless comments by Trump about Haitian immigrants eating pets in Ohio.
The controversy comes as Henderson and co-host Kyle Sandilands face continued pressure following the debut of their controversial radio show in Melbourne.
ARN Media network’s $200m flagship show has reportedly failed to grow its audience in Australia’s biggest city, where it is the third-most popular breakfast program.
The photo also comes just months out from the 2024 presidential election and after years of political and legal turmoil for the embattled former president and businessman.
