It’s one of the most iconic fashion moments and now fans of The Crown have seen the first glimpse of Princess Diana’s replica wedding gown.

Ahead of the release of season four of the series, Netflix has shared a preview of actor Emma Corrin as Princess Diana in the dress by Emmy award-wining costume designer Amy Roberts.

“A first glimpse of Princess Diana’s wedding dress. Emmy award-winning costume designer Amy Roberts wanted to capture the same spirit and style of David and Elizabeth Emanuel’s original design, without creating a replica for Emma Corrin,” the caption said.

The Welsh fashion designers created Princess Diana’s original gown for her 1981 marriage to Prince Charles.

It took over 600 hours to make her ivory silk taffeta and antique lace gown that included a 7.6m train.

Her tulle veil was also very long at 140m.

For the recreation of the dress for the award-winning the show, Corrin told British Vogue last month that Emanual gave Roberts the original patterns to make a close replica.

“We were filming the scene when you first see her in the wedding dress — I think it was Lancaster House in London — and I had a team of about 10 people helping me put it on, because it’s massive,” Corrin told the publication.

“I walked out and everyone went completely silent. More than anything else I wear in the series, it’s so … it’s her.”

The upcoming season will focus on the engagement and first years of marriage between Charles, played by Josh O’Connor, and Diana.

Several new characters will be introduced including Margaret Thatcher, played by Gillian Anderson.

Olivia Colman also returns as the Queen along with Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret and Tobias Menzies as Prince Philip.

Season four will premiere on Netflix on November 15.
