Perth’s hot sauce queen is branching out into something even spicier.

WA mum Renae Bunster is the woman behind cult favourite hot sauce Bunster’s S**t The Bed, which she invented in her kitchen six years ago and now regularly tops the Amazon list for the best-selling product of its kind.

After adding her signature condiment to her own Bloody Marys over the COVID-19 lockdown while housebound with her children, she got the idea for a craft distillery vodka infused with chilli.

Bunster says she was inspired by celebrity alcohol entrepreneurs like George Clooney, Ryan Reynolds and P Diddy.

“Our hot sauce is already killing it on the global stage and we can leverage that popularity with a flavoured vodka with the same name,” she says.

“Craft vodkas infused with all-natural ingredients are a big global trend, and vodka is the most popular spirit globally. So my goal was to produce the world’s best chilli vodka, so bartenders and people at home can make an awesome Bloody Mary, and really quickly and easily too.

“If you’re game enough to drink the vodka straight it’s mind blowing. Really hot and full of S**t the Bed hot sauce flavour.”

Bunster is already a millionaire thanks to her original product, but is now predicting a spike to come for the business now it has expanded to vodka.

“Alcohol companies are normally valued at 10 times the revenue of food businesses,” she says.

“In the last 12 months we’ve sold 100,000 bottles of hot sauce, and if we sold the same amount of vodka, then Bunsters would be worth $70 million.”

Bunster has been asking Australians to invest in her business via Birchal equity crowdfunding.

Despite an initial target of $100,000, the drive has already raised more than $1 million and is expected to double that before the window for investment closes on August 8.

Bunster says the alcohol announcement has kicked the funding push into a frenzy.

“We’ve been working around the clock to get this ready to announce so fans can get excited about the future of Bunsters, while they can still invest in our current equity raise,” she says.

Pre-orders are open for the first batch of vodka via the Bunsters website, with delivery beginning later this month.
