This elegant event raised almost $900,000 for research into a cure for type 1 diabetes, which affects more than 135,000 across Australia, with eight more diagnosed every day.

Organised by Breakthrough T1D, formerly known as the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the invitation-only evening brought together more than 450 guests, including leaders from politics, business and philanthropy.

After a VIP reception, including cocktails and a meeting with Breakthrough T1D chief executive Sydney Yovic, all attendees gathered in the main ballroom at Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre for fine dining, live entertainment and a moving speech from Alanah Brunt, whose son Thorin was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2023 at just two years old.
