Albany man charged with drink-driving after hitting guard rail and rolling ute on Princess Royal Drive

A young man was allegedly drink-driving when he crashed into a guard rail and rolled his car on Princess Royal Drive near Albany last week. The male driver and his passenger were lucky to escape without injury from the serious crash in Mt Elphinstone on September 12. Police say about 7.55pm the Mazda ute with two occupants was travelling on Princess Royal Drive near Menang Drive when due to the manner of driving it struck the guard rail on the left-hand-side of the road. The vehicle then skidded sideways for more than 100m before rolling onto its side. The driver and passenger were not injured in the rollover. Police attended the crash and the driver underwent a preliminary breath test. After a positive recording, the driver was taken back to the police station and subsequently charged. The 23-year-old Bayonet Head man was charged with careless driving and excess 0.08. During his time at the Albany police station, the man behaved in a disorderly manner under arrest and was also charged with disorderly behaviour. He will face Albany Magistrates Court on the charges.
