East River Road crash: RAC helicopter sent to collision near Denmark, one driver cut from wreckage

The RAC Rescue helicopter has been sent to a road crash in Hay, in the Great Southern. One person has been cut from the wreckage of the two-car collision. The incident was reported to WA Police about 12.30pm on Tuesday, near the intersection of East River Road and Denmark-Mt Barker Road in Hay, in the Shire of Denmark. Volunteer fire and rescue crews from Denmark and Mt Barker both rushed to the scene. The male driver of one of the vehicles was trapped in the wreckage and needing to be cut free. A Department of Fire and Emergency Services spokesperson confirmed the RAC Rescue helicopter was also dispatched to help crews on the ground. A St John WA spokesperson said ambulance crews were on scene just after 1.30pm, and six people were being assessed for injury. They said two adults and two children were travelling in one vehicle, and a man and woman were travelling together in the other.
