Gas bottle explodes in backyard of Gledhow home, with a man taken to hospital after avoiding serious injuries

A man has been taken to hospital after a gas bottle exploded in the backyard of a Gledhow property on Thursday afternoon. Emergency services were called to the property on Mueller Street about 2pm following reports a gas bottle had exploded inside a sea container. St John WA and Albany Fire and Rescue crews both attended the incident. The fire did not spread beyond the sea container and was extinguished by 2.26pm, a Department of Fire and Emergency Services spokesperson said. St John WA confirmed a man in his 50s was taken by ambulance to Albany Health Campus but did not have serious injuries.
