IN PICTURES: Clients draw on their passion for art at Hawthorn House

The Hawthorn House art group is hosting its first exhibition as part of a program that has inspired members to find or rediscover their passion for art.

The artists — all clients at Hawthorn House and members of Alzheimer’s WA — have spent Wednesday afternoons honing their craft under the guidance of facilitator Bambi Cumberland-Brown.

The group was formed earlier this year.

“At the beginning there was a little apprehension of what was expected and uncertainty of ability,” Ms Cumberland-Brown said.

“That soon evaporated as confidence blossomed. The space grew over weeks into a relaxing, creative companionship, sharing techniques and encouraging each other.

“Some of the club members are now taking up their brushes and pencils once again and working on projects long left untouched at home.”

The exhibition, which will run for several weeks, was opened on Wednesday by former Albany MP Peter Watson.
