Manypeaks have claimed important victories in both the women’s and men’s A-grade competitions as Lower Great Southern Hockey Association heads into its final round of fixtures this weekend before finals.

In the women’s A-grade competition, Manypeaks defeated Spencer Park 2-1 in a tightly contested match on Saturday.

Kathryn Slattery proved the difference for Peaks, scoring both of her side’s goals, while Abbey Turner was the sole goal scorer for Park.

Slattery was also named among Peaks’ best players alongside Hallee Temby and Bronte Graham.

Evie Famlonga, Stephanie Joy and Lauren Spinks were named Park’s best.

Meanwile, Mt Barker and North Albany had a close match, drawing 1-1.

In the men’s A-grade competition, Manypeaks also emerged victorious, defeating Mt Barker 2-0 on Friday night.

Ryan Johnson and Jack Mills found the back of the net for Peaks’ win.

The match also saw Benjamin Blechynden and Jordan Dwyer receive green cards.

Hayden Henning, Oliver Douglas and Jesse Carmen were named among Peaks’ key players, while Astyn Temby, Phil Stan-Bishop and Jethro Wright were among North Albany’s best players.

With just one round of fixtures remaining before finals, the competition ladders have become important.

North Albany sits on top of the women’s A-grade ladder followed by Manypeaks, Spencer Park and Mt Barker.

In the men’s competition, Manypeaks remains on top of the ladder, with Spencer Park sitting second and North Albany close behind in third.

The last round this weekend will give teams the opportunity to cement their position on the ladder before going into finals.
