Major investigation into 69-year-old woman’s suspicious death enters fourth day at Burville Street units

The major investigation into the suspicious death of a 69-year-old woman in Spencer Park entered its fourth day on Wednesday. Homicide squad detectives and forensics officers were back on Burville Street and hard at work before 9am, where they were seen working under gazebos set up alongside the forensics equipment van outside the unit where the woman was found dead on Sunday afternoon. The small suburban street has now been the subject of heavy police presence for four days, with the property in question near the corner of Burville Street and Mokare Road still under strict police guard as investigations inside continue. The street in Spencer Park is only a block away from Spencer Park Primary School on Reidy Drive, with footpaths in between properties connecting straight to Burville Street. The busy Albany Health Campus is only one street behind the school on Warden Avenue. The investigation ramped up on Monday afternoon, with the homicide squad arriving on the scene from Perth alongside the formidable team of forensics who are still working at the scene. On Tuesday, the team spent the day combing the scene, with forensics seen entering and leaving the unit in full protective suits and masks, and taking photos in a fenced yard next to the unit. The case has continued to evolve since emergency services were first alerted to the woman’s death on Sunday afternoon, with fresh details being revealed day-by-day. A 50-year-old man, believed to have been known to the deceased woman, was reported by police as assisting with inquiries shortly after the tragic incident. However, it was later revealed the man was in a critical condition himself and being treated in Royal Perth Hospital’s intensive care unit.
