Man killed in motorcycle crash near Mt Barker in the Great Southern

A motorcyclist has been killed in a crash near Mt Barker this afternoon.

It is understood the motorcyclist, a man in his late 40s, left the road and struck a tree near the intersection of Woogenellup Road and Ford Road.

Emergency services were called to the crash just before 2.30pm but the rider died at the scene.

Mt Barker Police have advised that Woogenellup Road remains closed between Knight Road and Chesterpass Road.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area.
