Wiseman’s Ferry: Two bodies found in search for missing father and son after car plunges into river
Police divers have found two bodies, believed to be a father and son, after a car plunged into a NSW river late on Wednesday night.
The bodies have been retrieved from the water near Wiseman’s Ferry, after the car landed in the Macdonald River shortly before midnight, 20km north of Wisemans Ferry, near Settlers Road, St Albans.
A 24-year-old man, believed to be a passenger in the vehicle, managed to escape and reached the riverbank.
“Police have been told two other men were in the vehicle at the time,” a NSW Police spokesperson said
“At about 11.20am today (Thursday) NSW Police Divers located a vehicle in waters nearby.
“A further search resulted in Police Divers locating two bodies in the water. They are yet to be formally identified.”
Police have confirmed to the Daily Telegraph, they believe the three men are a father and his two sons.
The incident comes as residents across New South Wales brace for further severe weather, with meteorologists warning of more rain and the risk of minor to moderate flooding in parts of Greater Sydney and the state’s north.
The heaviest rainfall is expected Thursday morning, with some areas predicted to see up to 120mm, though the exact impact remains uncertain.
Authorities are appealing for anyone with information about the crash to contact Hawkesbury Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, with all information to be treated confidentially.
