The Kimberley set to take centre stage at 2025 WA Tourism Awards

Kimberley businesses and individuals have taken this year’s Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards by storm with 19 locals named as finalists.

The list of organisations vying for a final win at the gala dinner to be held on November 8 at Crown Perth include Australia’s North West, Broome and Around, Broome Weddings and Events, Freshwater East Kimberley Apartments, Ord Valley Events and HeliSpirit.

Individual award nominees include William Maher of Kimberley day Cruise and Sue Thom of Cable Beach Club Resort and Spa.

Gold medal winners in 26 of the categories will go on to represent WA at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards in Fremantle in March 2026.

Broome Visitor Centre manager Mel Virgo said she was thrilled that so many of its members had taken out finalists spots at the awards .

“We are incredibly proud to see so many Broome-based operators recognised as finalists in the 2025 WA Tourism Awards,” she said.

“These nominations showcase the depth of talent, innovation and cultural richness that our region offers.

“For the Broome Visitor Centre, it is especially rewarding to see our members’ hard work and dedication celebrated on a State-wide stage. Each finalist contributes not only to unforgettable visitor experiences but also to the strength of our local economy and community.

“Broome truly shines as a destination when our operators succeed, and we wish all nominees the very best in the awards.”

Kimberley MLA Divina D’Anna said the depth of local nominees was a celebration of all that the Kimberley has to offer.

“This is a real celebration of our region and the unique cultural and wilderness experiences that make the Kimberley stand out on the world stage,” she said.

“Our local operators put their hearts into sharing our culture, our stories and our spectacular country with visitors, and it’s fantastic to see their efforts recognised.

“I wish all of our Kimberley finalists the very best and I’ll be cheering them on — hopefully we can celebrate some big wins together!”

The award recognises businesses, individuals and destinations for their commitment to excellence, providing a platform to review achievements and innovation, and an opportunity to raise their profile among the industry and consumers.
