Victoria Police sends NSW removalists trying to enter state back across the border
Another set of rogue NSW removalists has been caught trying to enter Victoria without a valid permit.
Victorian Health Minister Martin Foley confirmed the removalists, from Sydney, were sent packing after trying to cross the border at Mildura on Tuesday.
Mr Foley said Victoria Police had taken appropriate action; the removalists had been fined and sent back to NSW.
“Victoria Police suspicions as to some inappropriate activities were highlighted by that particular operator,” he said.
“Police acted appropriately, found them out, fined them and sent them back.
“That’s the risks that anybody who tries on Victoria Police and our tougher system runs.”
Mr Foley also slammed the behaviour of the original NSW removalists – that helped sparked the latest outbreak when they visited an apartment block while infectious – after health officials only found out in recent days they also visited a Nhill roadhouse 400km from Melbourne.
“That behaviour is unacceptable … consciously and deliberately avoiding being cooperative,” Mr Foley said on Wednesday.
“I don’t know what it is with NSW removalists, but let that be a lesson that if you break the rules there are consequences.”
