WA exposure sites: Child centre MercyCare Thornlie added to COVID alert locations

A childcare centre in Perth’s south-east has joined more than 100 WA locations identified as COVID exposure sites.

MercyCare on Wilfred Court in Thornlie was visited by a confirmed virus case between 7.30am and 7.45am on Tuesday, January 18 and 7.45am and 8am on Friday, January 21.

Highlighting the level of concern, anyone who was at the site during these two periods have been told to get tested immediately and isolate.

The two drop-off period alert zones are among 130 authorities are monitoring in the metro region, with a further 20 highlighted in WA’s South West.

The WA Government is yet to reveal the number of cases recorded overnight, after a further 24 local COVID-19 cases were announced Sunday, forcing Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson to concede the Omicron strain cannot be eliminated in WA.
