A Subiaco jewellery shop owner is calling on the public to help identify two suspected thieves who allegedly stole several perfume bottles that were part of a Subi Blooms installation.

In a post to Facebook on Tuesday, Ecali Fine Jewellery shared CCTV footage taken outside their shop entrance at around 2am on May 11.

In the video, two people wearing bike helmets can be seen tampering with an installation that was created by a local florist outside the jewellery store as part of the Subi Blooms festival.

According to Ecali Fine Jewellery owner Kerryn Hasler, the two people stole 15 recycled perfume bottles that had been used as flower vases for the vanity-style display, before pedalling off on their bikes.

“It’s really frustrating,” Ms Hasler said.

“It’s not really about the perfume bottles, but that people feel entitled to take something that they do not need.”

Ms Hasler said the installation was created by Perth florist Claire Cummings and took her about nine months to collect all the recycled perfume bottles.

“It was something for the whole community to enjoy, and these people just went in and spoiled it for everyone,” Ms Hasler said.

“Subi Blooms is such a positive Mother’s Day event, so it’s upsetting that these people had to put a negative spin on it.”

It comes after another strange theft from last month when two people were allegedly caught on CCTV stealing a vintage wrought-iron bench from a Nedlands office park last month.

Police are investigating the Subiaco matter, urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers online at www.crimestopperswa.com.au or by calling 1800 333 000.
