Two men have been arrested after allegedly leading police on a dramatic chase in a stolen car through Perth’s south-east suburbs last night.

The alleged police pursuit begun just after 12.45am, after officers attempted to stop an allegedly stolen blue Suzuki Swift travelling on Corfield Road in Gosnells.

It will be alleged the driver did not stop and instead accelerated away, exceeding the posted speed limit and breaching red traffic control lights, through various suburbs in the Armadale and Midland districts.

During the chase, the front passenger allegedly threw a number of items at the police car following them, causing minor damage to the front, bonnet and windscreen.

Police said they used stingers on the road to deflate the tyres of the Suzuki which came to a stop a short time later on Heath Road in Kalamunda.

The 22-year-old alleged driver, a man of no fixed address, was charged with a string of offences including stealing a motor vehicle, recklessly driving to escape pursuit by police, possessing a prohibited drug, stealing and breach of bail.

The alleged passenger, a 26-year-old from Kelmscott, was charged with stealing a motor vehicle, assault with intent to prevent arrest of a person and stealing.

They are both due to appear before the Armadale Magistrates Court today.
