Transperth bus attack: Man allegedly ‘glassed’ on bus in front of wife and young son

Police are looking for the victim of a brutal attack on a Transperth bus in Belmont this afternoon after a father was reportedly glassed by a group of teenagers. The photo of the bloody aftermath was posted online, along with a witness account describing how the man in his 40’s was slashed in the face in front of his wife and young son. “These teenagers got on the bus with boxes of alcohol and started being rowdy and using lots of profanity,” the witness wrote. “This older man in his 40’s had his wife and kid next to him and yelled at them to be quiet and respect the people in the bus, which started a back and forth between the teenagers and the man and turned into threats.” The man who allegedly witnessed the incident and called the police said one of the rowdy group members then yelled “I’m gonna shank this f****r”, took his shirt off and walked over to the victim, who “hooked” the teenager in the face. “This caused all the other teenagers to start throwing their cruiser bottles, I saw one smash into the older guys face, and blood started leaking out, then they all rushed to where the old man was and started punching and kicking him.” The witness said the alleged attackers fled the bus at the next stop, while the victim was left “profusely bleeding from all over his head and mouth”. “Blood (was) absolutely covering the entire middle area of bus,” he said. “It was pretty crazy and disturbing, the older guy’s child was crying.” WA Police said they received a “disturbance” report on a Transperth bus in Belmont about 3.10pm, however the victim had already got off the bus by the time the officers arrived. The bus was evacuated and witnesses had given police their statements however the victim has not yet made a report to police. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
