Nedlands home destroyed in fire started by electrical issue involving small fridge
A house in Perth’s western suburbs has gone up in flames.
Residents of the Nedlands home escaped without injury but could only watch as firefighters used combined ladders to douse the flames, which had spread into the roof of the building.
The fire was sparked by an electrical issue involving a small fridge in the garage just before 9pm Saturday.
It quickly engulfed the entire house near the intersection of Vincent Street and Jenkins Avenue.
Two luxury cars parked in the garage - a BMW hatchback and an Audi - were also scorched in the flames.
A stretch of Vincent Street remained closed while firefighters fought the flames into the early hours of Sunday morning.
The street has since reopened.
