A house has gone up in flames in Perth’s south-east, triggering a smoke warning and a major emergency response.
The fire broke out about midday on Saturday at a home near the intersection of William and Brixton streets in Beckenham.
Eight Department of Fire and Emergency Services appliances raced to the scene as thick smoke billowed across the suburb.
Firefighters had the blaze contained to the home shortly after 1pm.
It is believed no one was inside the house when the fire started.
Firefighters are working to determine what sparked the blaze.
William Street has been closed between Railway Parade and Brixton Street, with motorists urged to avoid the area or exercise caution if travelling nearby.
