Wanderers lead the Geraldton Bendigo Bank Cricket League after beating Sportsmans in a run-laden game at Wonthella on Saturday.

Two wonderful hundreds were made, first for Wanderers who were sent in and made 8-283 thanks to Jason Partington (128no off 78 balls) with four sixes and 17 fours. It was his second 100. He was assisted by brother Matt (64) and captain Kade Gillingham (30) with the main wicket takers being Jarrod Jupp (2-38), Ben O’Brien (2-55), who conceded the sixes, and Kip Allen (2-64).

Sportsmans slumped to 6-119 in the chase despite fight from Nic Rafanelli (17) who went past 5000 runs and then rallied superbly to reach a well-short but commendable 9-203.

Sportsmans’ star was O’Brien (125no off 134 balls). His second A-grade ton featured three sixes and 15 fours. Ian Oglesby (3-26 off 10 overs) was skilful, and Zane Gray (3-56), though expensive, showed promise.

“Jason’s innings was absolutely brilliant, he looked good all the way through with very impressive hitting at the end and Matt also batted well and got us off to a great start,” Gillingham said.
