Geraldton’s CBD will once again be buzzing with Christmas cheer next month, as Christmas on the Terrace returns.

COVID-19 restrictions put a dampener on holiday celebrations last year, but organisers promise it will be back bigger than ever on December 9.

More than 100 stallholders are going to line the sidewalks of Marine Terrace from 5pm-8.30pm, turning the CBD into a big urban street market from Orana Cinemas all the way to the police station.

This year the City is encouraging visitors to download an augmented reality app, EyeJack, so people can take photos of the street festival with computer-generated elements.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shayne Van Styn said shoppers could expect all the crowd favourites to return, with roving entertainers and food vans galore.

“It brings people together to celebrate what is great about our city and an opportunity to showcase the great local producers,” he said.

“It has been a long time since we’ve been able to come together as a very large group and celebrate that, as well as Christmas.

“Events like these bring that sense of community back that has somewhat been missing because of COVID-19 restrictions.”

added computer-generated elements.

The most creative photo taken on the night using the app will win a $100 Buy Local Greater Geraldton gift card.
