Geraldton playgrounds, skate parks and museum to reopen and library, pools and sports facilities services to increase as State enters phase 3

A number of services will reopen in Geraldton this weekend as the State Government begins Phase 3 of the easing of restrictions brought on by the coronavirus pandemic.

Playgrounds, skate parks and the Museum of Geraldton will re-open tomorrow.

The recently re-opened Geraldton Regional Library will be able to cater to 100 people, visiting for up to two hours.

Activity is beginning to return to the Queen Elizabeth II Seniors and Community Centre, though informal visits are not permitted and seniors must book to attend programs and activities. Contact the QEII Centre on 9956 6636.

The capacity of the Aquarena will be increased to 100 people, the change room facilities opened and the leisure, 25m and hydro pools will be available at allocated times, which are listed on the Aquarena website. Visits to the facility will be limited to two hours and bookings are required to use the hydro pool. Call the Aquarena on 9956 6906.

Geraldton Regional Art Gallery and Queens Park Theatre remain closed.

In Mullewa, the library will reinstate full borrowing privileges but the public computers will not be available. The town swimming pool remains closed, the youth centre is open with reduced hours and all public toilets are open.

Bookings are necessary to use sporting ovals in the City of Greater Geraldton and applications for events must be made to the City, and be within the guidelines and restrictions from authorities.

Measures will be in place at facilities to ensure there is only 100 people at the facility at one time and there will be increase in cleaning and hygiene measures, the City advised in a community service announcement today.

The City’s health officers and town planning team will work with cafes, pubs, restaurants, and beauty salons and spas, to provide assistance regarding the phase three restrictions around social distancing requirements and general advice for their readiness to re-open.
