Mission accomplished: Women Inspiring Better Business celebrate Geraldton women with annual IWD breakfast

Geraldton’s annual International Women’s Day breakfast was a flying success, with women from across the Mid West region banding together to celebrate. Run by Women Inspiring Better Business, the breakfast was held on Friday at Geraldton Grammar School’s Batavia Hall, and welcomed about 180 women. Attendees were treated to a colourful breakfast spread and listened to an insightful panel on the importance of community and giving back to those in need, delivered by Mid West Charity Begins at Home committee members. The panel consisted of Anne-Maree Hopkinson, Onika Routledge, Andy Horstman and Elly McCann, who shared their own personal stories and insights with the women gathered. WIBB chair Kat Jackson said it was evident the event held a great atmosphere and sense of connection. “With 180 women in attendance, it was wonderful to see so many come together to connect and celebrate International Women’s Day,” she said. “The Mid West has such a strong sense of community, and that willingness to lean on one another was perfectly reflected in hearing from Mid West Charity Begins at home. “The work they do supporting families in times of need shows what is possible when a community rallies together, and the ongoing support they receive across the region is a real testament.” Mid West Charity Begins at Home is well known in Geraldton and the broader region for its work raising money for those experiencing serious illness and financial hardship. To date, it has helped 493 families, giving out $3.8 million to those in need since its inception in 2008. The breakfast had a range of sponsors including Activewest Real Estate, NFR Group, Latitude Jewellers, Bendigo Bank, and Sanford Settlements to name a few. McDonald’s Geraldton owner and event sponsor Katie Nicolson said the annual breakfast for International Women’s Day was an event she always loved going to and being a part of. “It’s great to see so many women coming together, spreading the love, and supporting each other to grow and foster each others’ goals and beliefs,” she said.
