Local conditions turned it on for the second round of the Geraldton Board Riders season last month.

The weather served up chunky tubes and big walls for the club’s riders to carve up. President Nic Chadbourne said it was a good contest, even though some of the regular men’s open and under-19s riders were absent, probably up north chasing remote swell in the Gascoyne.

There were solid numbers in the women’s comp, with about 10 surfers taking part.

There are two more events to go before finals, with the next due when swell allows.
