A colourful fundraising project has seen a South West school collect more than $50,000 to help buy new books, resources and outdoor equipment.

Teachers, parents and police officers were coated in colour during Kingston Primary School’s colour run last week, with students running through hurdles to reach the end of the fun run course.

The race, which was organised by the school’s Parents and Citizens Association and saw the Kingston community, local police and fire and emergency services all involved, raised $58,194.

School principal Katie Wallace said the money would help to create better learning outcomes for every student as well as develop a sense of community.

“We’re (Kingston Primary) very proud of our connection to the community and the police and the fire brigade were very keen to be a part of that,” she said.

“The P&C have worked hard to organise this event, it’s about community spirit and involving everyone.”

Students who raised more than $200 to run through the colourful obstacle course were entered in a raffle, with the raffle winner given the “honour” of covering two teachers with slime.
