Brunswick Tennis Club is causing a racket as part of their new Get Your Racquet on! campaign.

It is an open court session that allows people to book a court online and keep fit.

The main target group is people aged between 25 and 45 years of age. Tennis Australia did a survey and found that age bracket was the most sedentary.

The campaign will run for another six weeks and encourages tennis players to get back on the court.

Tennis Australia said the main reason for inactivity within this age bracket was the inconvenience, having no one to play with and not wanting to commit.

This initiative aims to tackle those concerns and provides an easy way for people to get back into tennis.

It lowers the committent, can fit in with a busy schedule and provides an opportunity to socialise and make new friends.

However, the campaign is also attractive for non-tennis players.

The play is in fun formats and suitable for all playing abilities.

The Sunday sessions cost $5 but include a sausage sizzle, drink and court hire fees.

Brunswick Tennis Club received hats, shirts and racquets as part of the campaign. They were even given a UE boom speaker to play music.

Brunswick Tennis Club president Julianne Hill said it was a great initiative for the club.

“On a weekend, there isn't much activity in Brunswick, so this is a great way for people to stay social. It’s all organised, people just have to rock up,” she said.

“It’s a really great way to keep fit in the summer, tennis is also the only junior sport based in Brunswick.

Club secretary Tanya Musitano said she only started playing tennis a couple of years ago.

“I really like tennis, it’s so social and everyone has a good time,” she said.
