Hosting yet another successful Waroona Show, Waroona Agricultural Society president Eric Walmsley said he had a “perfect day” on Saturday as the showgrounds swelled with people.

Thousands visited Waroona at the weekend to celebrate the largest single-day agricultural event in WA.

The action started from 8am and went out with a bang with Alcoa’s fireworks display to end the night 12 hours later.

Mr Walmsley said it he “couldn’t be happier” with how the day went, and thanked his committee for their support.

“The weather’s turned out for us, crowds have turned out for us and I won the champion steer,” he said.

“We have about 50 active members that help with running the show on the day, and then we have about 350 volunteers that help behind the scenes.

“And then there’s hundreds of volunteers behind that, who work for other sporting groups who help on the day to make this even stronger.

“It’s not just for us, it’s for the community.”

Shire president Mike Walmsley extended his congratulations to the Agricultural Society.

“It’s great to see the crowds have responded to all the stuff that’s there today (Saturday). There’s an an amazing amount of stuff on,” he said.

“If you can’t find something that interests you today, you aren’t looking hard enough.”

Cr Walmsley said his highlight of this year’s show was seeing the transformation of the farm shed into a walk-though display detailing history of Waroona, and it’s sheep and dairy industries.

“I really love how the farm shed has come together this year,” he said.

Cr Walmsley said Nicole Entz had put in the effort to get the display up and running after Cr Walmsley and his wife handed over the reins.
