Twenty amateur fighters will today be competing for bragging rights in a mixed martial arts showdown at Kalgoorlie-Boulder Racing Club.

Hosted by local club Pacific MMA Kalgoorlie, the Red Dust Fight Show 2 will feature fighters of varying ages across mixed martial arts disciplines such as Muay Thai, kickboxing and corporate boxing.

It marks the second event of its type this year, and Pacific MMA Kalgoorlie owner and show promoter TJ Marsters said that came on the back of the success of the first show in June.

“We received some great feedback from the last show,” he said.

“The Kalgoorlie-Boulder community really got behind it and expressed that they wanted to see more events like it in town.

“All the fighters who came up last time were impressed by the calibre of our local fighters, and it’s great to have them coming back to participate again.”

The event, sanctioned by the Combat Sports Commission of WA, will also welcome several referees, judges, sporting officials and fight teams from across the State.

Mr Marsters said he was confident the event would be a spectacle.

“Our local fighters, from various gyms, have been putting in a lot of training hours and we can’t wait for them to put on a good show for the crowd tomorrow night,” he said.

“Our objective is to give local fighters an opportunity to build their skills and experience in the ring, and this event will see them go head-to-head with other amateur fighters in town and from around Western Australia.

“This time the event will feature a lot of corporate boxers, many making their debut.

“Having an event like this really builds their confidence and motivation to grow in the sport.”

Doors open at 6pm and general admission tickets are available at the door or through trybooking. com. Minimum age is 10 and anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
